Vera Roasting Company was founded by a professor of organic chemistry and molecular spectroscopy, Dr. Glen Miller. Studying natural compounds first brought resveratrol to his attention. Resveratrol is the highly beneficial antioxidant found in red wine that is associated with heart health and disease prevention. The scientific literature includes thousands of Resveratrol papers suggesting improved cardiovascular health, diabetes prevention, slowing of aging-related cognitive decline, reduction in cancers, etc., etc. Big pharma tried to develop a better version of Resveratrol thatb they could patent, but the all-natural form, already known and therefore unpatentable, could not be beat.

Resveratrol is found found naturally in a few foods like peanuts and dark chocolate, but only in small quantities. By far, the largest amount of Resveratrol found in foods is in red wine where it is naturally extracted from the skins of select red grapes.

When Dr. Miller began his work, he wondered how Resveratrol could be consumed without drinking red wine. Finally it came to him- coffee! Coffee is the perfect vehicle to deliver the health benefits of Resveratrol. Dr. Miller developed a process to infuse Resveratrol into freshly roasted coffee beans, releasing the beneficial antioxidant upon brewing. In this way, the world's first heart healthy coffee was created.

Like Resveratrol found in red wine, Resveratrol in a cup of Vera Roasting Company coffee is soluble and bioavailable. That's critical for fast, efficient absorption. Conversely, Resveratrol in pill form is not soluble, far less bioavailable and far less beneficial. You'd have to swallow a lot of pills to get the same benefit as one cup of Vera Roasting Company coffee.
